What a concept!? Golfing without leaving the island!
A relatively non-bitter walk about the links of Anjou's Metropolitain was "enjoyed" by 6 tour regulars today. Beautiful, breezy golfing weather in a laid-back quiet environment.
Nassau Ruff had the round of the day, Chip Bunker shot a very consistent (mediocre for him) 45 (18 putts) and 45 (18 putts), and Bogey Morklubb won the only beer-hole in his group with a near hole-in-one.
Rock Kuttshott, one of Hangover Golf's original members made an impressive comeback to the tour yesterday on the sunny fairways of St-Basil-le-Grand's Rive Sud course.
Having not swung a club in five years, Rock joined up with three-time Hangover Golf Champion Chip Bunker, Masher Softspin and Eagle Klubhead for a fun outing of cart golfing. Klubhead insisted on the carts since he was still drunk with less than four hours sleep under his belt after a B-league golf tournament in the Eastern Townships the day before.
Sunshine made a rare appearance on this rainy 2008 season for 10 tour regulars to battle the narrow fairways of Mirabel's Le Boisé.
Nassau Ruff shot the round of the day, Eagle Klubhead drank the most beers and everyone pretty much enjoyed more than one (or eight!) bitter hikes for lost balls in the woods.
The final day of 2007 featured the final leg of the first annual Asian Championship - the Beer Lao Laoded Championship. Held at Youth Garden Golf Club just outside of Vientiane, Laos in sunny, warm conditions, Eagle Klubhead and Dunc Snoughmann motoed to the course only to find that due to there being only one set of left-handed clubs, they would be forced to share a set of clubs but were still required to pay for two caddies, both of whom turned out to be almost useless.
Down by 6 strokes after losing 111-117 in Cambodia, Eagle Klubhead stormed back with a 105-116 victory in the Vietnam Open at Da Lat, the second of the three legs of the Hangover Golf 2007 Asian Championship.
The Da Lat course, established in 1922, is rated the number one rated course in Vietnam and there were no disputing this claim from the two Hangover Golf veterans. The course was an absolute delight to play.
Dunc Snougmann narrowly won the first leg of the Asian Championship. Hitting his first two tee shots off the first tee into the water he slowly regained form in the hot sun to stroll onto a 6-stroke win at the Cambodian Golf and Country Club.
With the help of Caddy #89, Snoughmann had a 3-stroke lead after the first nine while Klubhead, constantlly being hit by his Caddy #77, was to sore to improve his game. He didn't mind as cold Angkor beer cans were available on the course for 60 cents!!
More on the tournament and pics to be posted at a later date.
